What Is A Livery Vehicle?
A livery vehicle is sometimes referred to as Car Service. Livery Vehicles are (i) dispatched from a base on a pre-arranged basis, (ii) designed to carry fewer than 6 passengers and (iii) are charged for service on the basis of a flat rate, time, mileage, or zones. Unlike Black Cars there are no restrictions on fare payments. Examples of car service companies, include Elite, Dial-7, Carmel and Executive Group.
Do I Need Livery Vehicle?
Yes. In addition to having Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) plates and registration, the TLC requires all Livery Vehicles to have insurance coverage. Livery Vehicles must meet the TLC minimum liability coverage requirements which are set at $100,000 per person, $300,000 per accident and $200,000 in personal injury protection.
